EPSON: TECHNOLOGY POWERING ATHLETICS
Paris 2003 Saint-Denis
As Official Partner of the World Championships in Athletics since 1997, Epson uses cutting-edge technology to process competition data including results, starting lists, and winners.
Real Time Results
Epson’s main challenge throughout the nine days of competition is to calculate results and standings in real time as events are completed. The company has introduced a new powerful range of innovations this year, implementing the most complete data processing system ever.
A network of 550 terminals and touch-screens provides journalists with the latest results as they happen, and allows them to keep up to date with the event schedule. The media also has access to a dedicated athletics database covering the last 20 years in the sport, including performance stats for individual athletes – a key new feature for these Championships.
Photo Souvenir
The ever-fashionable new technology theme has been drawing the public to the Epson stand in the Partners Village around the Stade de France®. Visitors can find out more about the brand's products and ask for technical tips. The sales team are available to answer your questions on the very latest innovations and present the new products. For example, you can have yourself photographed in front of a giant portrait of a female athlete taken from the French book "Femmes athlètes" edited by Jean Galfione and photographer Vincent Ohl.
The digital camera’s data card is then inserted into an exclusive new printer model that runs off the photo off in a minute or two, depending on the selected settings. You can choose the paper and print quality, image size, or even frame the photo. Visitors have been thrilled to see themselves captured alongside their favourites of track and field!
