TDK: TURNING ATHLETICS INTO A CELEBRATION

Official World Championships Partner TDK has made a name for itself during the event by organising “Marathon” evenings. The brand is also enjoying prime visibility on the athletes bibs.
The marathon dance
TDK has succeeded in combining its two main areas of interest. A CD and DVD producer as well as a long-time World Athletics Championships Partner (right back to the first-ever Championships back in 1983), the company has decided to marry sport and music by setting up the highly original project – a “Dance Marathon”.
“We wanted to create a special occasion around a big event and combine our two big sectors of interest,” says Sophie Bonnot of TDK communications. “Seven of Paris’ biggest night spots (the Wax, the Pulp, Queen, The Lizard Lounge, Gibus, the Mixer Bar and Loco) have all invited clubbers to a three night dance marathon which ends in the wee, wee hours on August 31. And it’s proved a huge success!”
European DJs
Each night is divided into 3 parties: before, party and after, and each takes place in a different club. The icing on the cake is that DJs from 3 top European clubs - The End (London), Culture Club (Gent), and Terrrazza (Barcelona) - are also taking part, along with a host of international guests-stars.
Logo on bibs
TDK is omnipresent at the Stade de France®, from the athletes bibs to the big billboards beside the start of the 100 metres. “We choose to sponsor athletics because it is a sport which goes hand in hand with our corporate values. High performance and clean values are what we stand for and reflect the quality of our products” adds Sophie Bonnot.
