It’ll be alright on the night!
Britannicus, Carmen and Faust are just a few of the productions that 38 year-old François Zumstein has staged at the Gagny Theatre in Seine Saint Denis. And come August, this Paris born director with a background in science will be putting his theatrical savoir-faire to good use as he takes up his post as a volunteer at the 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics.
François tried his hand at just about everything the theatre has to offer, including stints as an actor, stagehand and lighting technician, before deciding to head up his own 700 seat-theatre. As an active member of the local community, François has helped set up dance and theatre companies as well as creating a jazz festival.
He is a great believer in the old adage “a healthy mind, a healthy body”, and sport is very much a part of his life; he practises rugby, tennis and athletics on a regular basis.
When he learnt that the Paris 2003 Saint Denis Organising Committee were looking for volunteers, François immediately applied. And this summer he will be deploying his considerable diplomatic skills and get-up-and-go as an Accreditation Inspector at the Stade de France®.
