These dedicated men and women will be working selflessly behind the scenes to make the 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics a resounding success. In recognition of their commitment, the Organising Committee will be regularly putting one of them under the spotlight.
Altruism personified
Anyone who makes a career in the medical profession – particularly in hospitals – clearly has an altruistic streak in them, but Josselin Lomenech more than most. For this native of Rennes seems to spend all his life at the service of his fellow man.
This is a man for all situations, able to bring his training to bear in areas as varied as psychological support, first aid and sign language. And he has applied his knowledge all over France too, from Brittany to Haute-Savoie by way of the Ile-de-France region, in his capacity as an ambulance man, and later educator for disabled and autistic children.
In 1994 he was in Cambodia working in Orphanages on behalf of various NGOs. Yet Josselin Lomenech still finds time for sport, and French and Thai boxing in particular, with a marathon thrown in here and there for good measure. Josselin felt it was about time he made his services available to a major sporting event, and jumped at the chance to become a volunteer for the 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics. So come August, he will be overseeing accreditations for the access department, making sure the authorized zones are kept that way!
