03/09/2003 - THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
These World Championships were a succession of breathtakingly exciting races and field events. Fans at the Stade de France® were treated to a nine-day festival of top-class athletics, and neither they nor the athletes will forget Paris Saint-Denis 2003 in a hurry.

01/09/2003 - A GLORIOUS FINAL DAY
The 9th World Championships in Athletics ended on a high note after a day of thrilling finals. Team France came way with another silver in the 4x400m relay, and the men’s 5,000m witnessed one of the greatest races in the history of the event.

31/08/2003 - TWO TITLES FOR FRANCE !
Eunice Barber in the long jump and the women’s 4x100 metres relay team brought host nation France its first two gold medals in the World Championships. Allen Johnson added a fourth 110m hurdles title to his collection and Moroccan Jaouad Gharib took the marathon.

30/08/2003 - STARRY STARRY NIGHT
The United States picked up world titles in the men’s 200 metres and long jump on Friday to take their gold medal haul to six. It’s a good time to be an American in Paris right now.

29/08/2003 - WHITE AT THE DOUBLE
American sprinter Kelli White wrote her name in World Championships history on Thursday, bursting clear in the 200m to complete a famous sprint double. Manuela Montebrun won host nation France its 4th medal with a bronze in the hammer.

28/08/2003 - EL GUERROUJ FOREVER
Hicham El Guerrouj bagged his fourth 1,500m title, Robert Korzeniowski shattered the 50km walk world record and Perdita Felicien romped home to win gold in the 100m hurdles on another memorable day of top-class athletics at the Stade de France®.

27/08/2003 - THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
French athletics fans ran the whole gamut of emotions on Tuesday evening. From dejection at the sight of Romain Mesnil failing to qualify for the pole vault final, to utter delight as Marc Raquil came from nowhere to snatch a last-gasp bronze in the 400 metres.

26/08/2003 - COLLINS DIPS TO GOLD!
Monday’s highlight was undoubtedly Kim Collins’ victory in an extraordinary men’s 100m final. Christian Olsson became the men’s triple jump champion and Svetlana Feofanova took the laurels in the women’s pole vault.

25/08/2003 - EUNICE GETS FRANCE OFF THE MARK
Eunice Barber won France’s first medal on Day 2 of competition – a silver in the heptathlon. No such luck for Christine Arron, though, who came in a disappointing sixth in the 100 metres.

24/08/2003 - KLUFT-BARBER, PICK OF THE FIRST-DAY DUELS
Three titles were awarded on Saturday, to Adrei Mikhnevich of Belarus in the shot put, Ethiopia’s Adere in the 10,000m and the Ecuadorian Jefferson Perez in the 20km walk. But it was the confrontation between Kluft and Barber in the heptathlon that really caught the crowd’s imagination. That one will be decided on Sunday…

23/08/2003 - LET’S GET IT ON!
At 8.30am sharp on Saturday, a shot will fly up into the Saint-Denis sky and the 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics will have begun. The qualifying competition for the shot put marks the start of nine thrilling days of world-class athletics. 500,000 fans are expected through the turnstiles of the Stade de France®.
