05/09/2003 - PARTNERS IN TRIUMPH
For their financial and logistical support, for their expertise in each area of organisation, our national and international partners played an essential role in making these 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics a great success.

03/09/2003 - THEY THINK IT’S ALL OVER – NOT QUITE
The curtain has come down on the 9th World Championships in Athletics. The Closing Ceremony marked the official end to the event, but as the fans headed for the gates, the Organising Committee was already limbering up for one last race against time.

02/09/2003 - A RESOUNDING SUCCESS
Over 550,000 spectators attended the 9th World Championships in Athletics, putting an overwhelming seal of public approval on a hugely successful event. Prefect Jean Dussourd, President of the Organising Committee, was keen to thank all those who made the occasion so memorable.

30/08/2003 - PARIS PASSES BATON TO HELSINKI
The Paris Saint-Denis World Championships opened to the brilliance of stars, and closed on Sunday evening in perfect symmetry.

30/08/2003 - COLOUR EVERYWHERE
“Running, jumping, throwing” is the triptych emblazoned in and around the Stade de France® at these 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics. The three primary athletic movements are highlighted in strident orange, blue and fuchsia; bringing to mind – amongst other things – high performance.

30/08/2003 - SHINGO SUETSUGU, ALL ASIAN HERO
Japanese sprinter Shingo Suetsugu has gone down in history at these World Championships. A bronze medal in the 200 metres makes him the first-ever Asian sprinter to make a podium in any world competition, Olympic Games included!

27/08/2003 - BANDANA BONANZA !
Between Thursday and Sunday, spectators at the Stade de France will each receive a numbered bandana as they enter the stadium, giving them the chance to win a super prize in a daily draw.

26/08/2003 - C. ARRON: “I’M SAVING THE MEDAL FOR ATHENS”
Christine Arron is convinced that after two year’s out of the sport and less than 12 months training behind her, she can now kick on to take a medal at the Olympic Games.

From the Athletes Village, the sportsmen and women and accredited persons can reach the Stade de France® in 17 minutes, courtesy of a dedicated RER service.

Media coverage of the 9th World Championships represents an immense logistical challenge. With this in mind, the Organising Committee has put in place a system tailored to this huge event, which revolves around the Main Media Centre. Take the tour.

23/08/2003 - OPENING CEREMONY: TRACK OF STARS
The stars, the earth and the seas: the Opening Ceremony for the 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics which took place at 2pm on Saturday was an an ode to universality.

Staged for the first time in North America, the 2001 World Championships in Athletics saw two of the greatest stars of the sport brought down to earth with a bump. Marion Jones and Haile Gebreselassie will need no reminding…

22/08/2003 - PARIS AIRPORTS PUT OUT THE WELCOME MAT
The world’s greatest athletes are descending in droves on the French capital. And from the time they step off the plane at Orly and Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airports till the moment they take off for home, they are being taken in hand by the Paris 2003 Saint-Denis organisers.

20/08/2003 - JULES LADOUMÈGUE STADIUM CLOSURE
The Local Organisation Committee (LOC) of the 9th World Championships in Athletics has decided to close Jules Ladoumègue training stadium for the duration of the competition.
