USEFUL INFO HOTELS - ACCOMMODATION |
ACCOMMODATION SUITED TO A GLOBAL EVENT!
Paris's place as the world's premier tourist destination and international business tourism
capital (41 % of visitors) has not been achieved by resting on its historical and cultural laurels.
The quality and quantity of the accommodation facilities have played a significant role in winning
over tourists, and have delighted the fans of major sporting events who have visited the city
in recent years. Such will be the case for the athletics fans who will be making reservations
for Paris 2003 Saint-Denis , in order to discover new sides to the capital and really get the most
out of the event.
The Ile-de-France region has
always been a bastion of
conviviality, fine living and gastronomy,
which, as competition now demands,
means both tasty and healthy foods. In
recent years however, the region has
also acquired a taste for major
international events. With a portfolio of
hotels totalling no less than 146,000
rooms, 77,000 in Paris itself and 69,000
in the rest of Ile-de-France, the region is
well equipped to deal with a massive
and sudden influx of sports fans. The
World Youth Days (JMJ) organised in
Paris from 18 to 24 August 1997 also
served to demonstrate the capacity of
the area's accommodation
infrastructure. A total of more than a
million people from all over the world
came to Paris for the occasion. And one
year later, the experience was repeated
with the 1998 Football World Cup.
So athletics enthusiasts setting off for
Paris, Stade de France® tickets in hand,
to attend the IAAF World
Championships, can rest assured they
will be given a very warm welcome,
regardless of their chosen form of
accommodation, ranging from luxury
hotels to charming hotels of all
categories, tourist resi
dences and
youth hostels.
Officials and sponsors of the
competition will be accommodated in
hotels chosen by the committee.
Members of the media will be
accommodated according to
geographical pool (Porte d'Orléans
pool, Bercy pool, Gare de Lyon pool…)
during the competition.
Every effort has been made to ensure
the 9th World Championships in
Athletics are a success both on and off
the track! Spectators, we are sure,
will go away with fond memories of
intense competition and Paris' famous
joie de vivre.
